Before permanently mounting the receiver, it must first be paired with your trolling motor and shallow water anchor.
Place the receiver near the trolling motor where it can communicate with the trolling motor. Use a temporary power wire or an extra battery to power up the receiver box.
Follow your trolling motor pairing procedure.
Minn Kota i-Pilot
1. Turn on the trolling motor.
2. Press and hold the pair button on the motor's control head until you hear a steady, constant tone.
3. Continue holding the motor's pair button. On your Salty Dog receiver, press the black button for about 3 seconds.
4. Release all buttons when the motor emits 3 beeps, conforming the pairing is complete.
Power Pole Move
1. Turn on the trolling motor.
2. Power on the Salty Dog receiver box and place it on top of the trolling motor display.
3. Tap the left and right buttons on the Salty Dog remote at the same time. This will open the 6 second pairing window (the Move will constantly ring and the 3 LEDs on the navigation head will intermittently flash teal) Then tap Anchor up and Anchor down at the same time.
4. The Move will beep twice, indicating the remote is now paired
When pairing the shallow water anchor, place the receiver close enough to communicate with the anchor control pump.
Power Pole Shallow Water Anchor
1. Press and hold the program button on the HPU for 3 seconds until the LED turns steady green.
2. Press the anchor up button on the Salty Dog remote. When paired, the green LED will flash steadily and the HPU will beep.
If pairing to dual power poles repeat the process on the other HPU.
Do not permanently mount the receiver until pairing has been completed.
After successful pairing, move the receiver to its permanent mounting location.
The receiver should be installed:
-In a dry compartment whenever possible.
-Securely mounted to prevent movement.
-Within reach of the antenna cable.
-Away from excessive heat.
-Away from high-current power cables when practical.
Because pairing information is stored in the receiver, it is not necessary to leave the receiver near the trolling motor after pairing.
Connect the receiver power harness to a fused 12-volt power source.
-Red wire - +12 VDC
-Black wire - Ground
Use a fuse size to protect the wire you use, it can be a smaller size fuse. The unit has a resettable breaker to protect it.
After power is applied, verify the reciever powers on.
Proper antenna placement is critical for maximum operating range.
For best performance:
-Mount the antenna vertically.
-Keep the antenna away from large metal objects.
-Do not sharply bend or kink the antenna cable.
-Do not coil excess antenna cable tightly.
-Tighten the SMA connector securely by hand.
Route the power and antenna cables neatly.
Use zip ties to secure all wiring.
Avoid routing cables near moving parts or areas where they may become pinched.
With the receiver installed:
-Verify trolling motor steering.
-Verify speed control.
-Verify motor on/off functions.
-Verify shallow water anchor operation.
Your Salty Dog Remote is now ready for use.
